Game Introduction
Dark Chess (Chinese Chess) gameplay is divided into full board and half board. Full board is highly difficult, so the half board style, commonly known as Dark Chess (Half Chess), was developed. All pieces are placed face down on one half of the board, and both sides take turns playing.
Game Methods
Dark Chess is a game for two players. At the start of the game, players compare pieces to decide who goes first. On the 4x8 half-board, both sides take turns flipping the covered pieces. The color of the first chess piece revealed determines which pieces the first player can control and their faction.
Chess Pieces Introduction: Each side has 16 pieces. The order from largest to smallest is General (Marshal), down to Soldier. However, Soldier and Cannon can capture the General (Marshal). In Chariot Rush mode, the Chariot can also capture any piece on the board (must have one empty space).
Capturing: Once the starting player's faction is determined, both parties take turns flipping or moving. Based on the rank of the pieces, a player can place their piece on an adjacent opponent's piece of equal or lower rank (Cannon is an exception; it must jump over a piece in the middle) and remove the opponent's piece from the board to complete a capture.
Victory, Defeat, and Draw: 1. When one side is wiped out, surrenders, or is judged to have lost by the system, that side loses and the opponent wins.
2. If a player disconnects, they will be judged as having lost the game and will lose the round.
3. Draw: When both sides make a total of 50 moves without any capturing or flipping, the system judges it a draw, or if both parties agree to a draw. Half of the undistributed victory points are accumulated to the next round.
Dark Chess Rules
Standard Dark Chess: Standard rules need no elaboration. Each side has only one move per turn (flip, move, capture), and the turn passes to the opponent upon completion.
Face-up Continuous Capture: Face-up Continuous Capture, as the name implies, means pieces must be "face-up" (revealed) to be captured continuously. You cannot move to an empty space after a capture sequence, nor can you move to an empty space before starting a capture sequence.
Dark Continuous Capture: Can continuously capture face-up or face-down pieces. Can capture face-down pieces then face-up pieces, or face-up pieces then face-down pieces. However, you cannot move to an empty space after a capture sequence, nor can you move to an empty space before starting a capture sequence.
Extra Rule: Chariot Rush: The Chariot can capture opponent pieces in a straight line without a distance limit. However, it is only allowed when there is a piece to capture (cannot be adjacent) and there are no obstacles in between. When the Chariot rushes, it can capture all pieces in its path (This function is an opening option; the Table Master can set it).
Scoring Method
Table Betting: The player opening the game can customize the bet, and the game is based on this.
General Calculation: When you open a game with a bet of 10. Players take turns flipping or capturing. When one side is wiped out, surrenders, or is judged lost by the system, the system will settle the score. The points calculation method is:
(Winner's (minus Loser's) Piece Score ÷ Total Piece Score x Bet Points) + Bet Points
Opening a Table
The player who opens the game is called the Table Master in the system. The Master can decide the bet multiplier, minimum round limit, and set a password or message for the table, so friends or players with similar habits can join your game.
Joining a Table
After players log in to the "iTaiwan Darkchess" game lobby and select a suitable hall, they can click to enter that game hall. Inside the hall, players can select:
* Any empty seat, to immediately join a game that lacks players.
* Any empty table, to immediately enter the opening settings screen.
* Press Immediate Start, same as pressing any empty table. Immediately enters the new game settings screen.
* Press Auto Match, to display tables with current vacancies that the player can enter. The player can choose which game they wish to join.
PS. Players can enter any table with less than four people, but the prerequisite is to have at least 10 times the current round's bet. Also, the table must have no password restriction, or if it has a password, the entering player must possess the password.
Avatar Selection
"iTaiwan Darkchess" provides players with many funny characters and voiceovers. After logging in, players can go to the Avatar Selection in the Member Center to set their in-game avatar.

Changing Nickname
When players apply to become a "iTaiwan Darkchess" member, the modification method is the same whether you have an official nickname via full application or a temporary nickname via quick application.
